Carnegie Lake
About Carnegie Lake
Carnegie Lake is a man-made 262 acre lake located in Princeton, New Jersey. The lake was created for Princeton’s University’s rowing team, home to the Shea Rowing Center. The rowing center is located in the southern-end of the lake.
There is a dam on the northern-end of the lake that you’ll want to be aware of. There are various islands to also explore. On the east-side of the lake is the Delaware & Raritan Canal (D&R Canal) that runs parallel to it. You can enter the D&R canal right near Princeton Canoe and Kayak rental, which rentals are also available. We will be posting some D&R canal paddles that end up in Lake Carnegie.
The lake is rated beginner-to-intermediate because of possible rowing traffic on the lake. It’s recommended to avoid paddling during races and bigger meets.
Parking & Launching:
You’ll be able to launch from the Carnegie Public Boat Launch right off of Princeton Kingston Road.
